The Church in HarksteadHarkstead is found approximately 7 miles due south from Ipswich, 6 miles north east of Manningtree.

On the picturesque Shotley peninsular, Harkstead stands on the north bank of the river Stour.

The village has many footpaths which cover field, farm and riverside walks.

With a population of around 350 people, the village is a quiet rural Suffolk retreat, which hosts events for the wider community in the form of Farmer's Markets, Table Top Sales, Sponsored Events and various sporting activities based in the Village Hall.

The village green, "The Millennium Green", offers open space for the residents and visitors to walk animals, play field games, picnic and use the slide, swing and roundabout.

As can be expected from most U.K. villages, the village is home to a number of businesses covering many different requirements, from draftsmanship to plumbing.

The village public house "The Baker's Arms", offers visitors and residents alike, food and drink, with indoor and outdoor seating.
