What has happened to your website ?... described as "Your number one resource for village news".. yet apart from news of the next farmers market there seems little going on.... Maybe someone can revive a site which appears to have about as much life as the churchyard !!! |

I am interested in the life of Enid Timson. I met her in 1993 (in hospital), and was saddened to discover she had passed away the following year. I remember her for her stories and her independence. If anyone knew her or could supply me with more details of her life, including her family (she had a sister who lived in South Africa), I would be most grateful. I may compile a short biography of her life. Thanks, Liz Klotz,Kesgrave, elk1972@gmail.com |

Hi, Looking to find anyone who has memories of my mother. She sadly died when I was eleven years old, so I really missed out on the time when I would hear about her younger days.
Mum's maiden name was Brinkley, her father was Fred, and my mother's mother was named Florence. She sadly died when I was only three months old so I never knew her.
Fred used to be a barge man, working out of Pin Mill or perhaps Shotley. He died in 1980 while living in Holbrook. My Aunt Eva Fifield nursed him for the last few months.
My mother's name was Constance Eileen Brinkley. She was in the Land Army during the war and met my father who was a farm worker while in the army.
I'm not sure exactly where Fred lived in Harkstead, or it could possibly have been in Lower Holbrook. I do remember something about a property called 'Cherryfields'. I have a photograph of my mother in her Land Army uniform in the garden.
She was a very pretty lady so I'm hoping someone may be able to fill in a few blanks for me.
Mum was born in 1924 and sadly died in 1961 after a short battle against a brain tumour. We lived at Tattingstone then. She went to Holbrook secondary school, as did I.
I would be most grateful if anyone does remember Connie, an old flame, school friend.
Any additional information about her would be wonderful, I'm in my late fifties and really don't know a lot about her.
Mum loved singing and drawing pictures of wild flowers and birds and was at one time working at the Burtons factory? on the dockside in Ipswich.
Hoping someone may remember her, please get in touch via e-mail. Thanks Liz Balmforth. nee (Abbott)

Does anyone remember anything of the Briggs families from Harkstead? Also the Dawsons? My long term goal is to trace a photograph of my wifes maternal Grandmother and Grandfather. In a nutshell: Her Grandfather was Albert Francis who married Dorothy Agnes Briggs in 1939. By this time they were both living in Ipswich. However, we have been led to believe that Dorothy may have lived with the Dawson's from Needle Corner back around the 1920's and any info on the whereabouts of any succeeding members of the Dawson family would be greatly appreciated. I believe Needle Corner is adjacent to Dawson's Lane so I assume there is a big Dawson connection there. The residents of Harkstead have been extremely helpful to us in the past and I hope someone may be able to point me in the right direction again so that we could fill in a major gap in our family history and make an Uncle extemely happy. |

Alan32-- If my memory serves me correct then you are probably looking for Rev Westmacott who followed Rev Connor. But if you live near to Harkstead or can get there then I am reliably informed that there is a list of all the past rectors on the wall near to the font inside the church |

Does anyone know anything of the history of our house (the Old Church School)? Jack is writing a project for school on the history of his house and would love to collect more information and possibly get copies of old photographs and even first hand accounts of what it was like to be a pupil at the school.
Look forward to receiving replies over the website (it has to be in soon!!!)
